How to reach Udupi from Coimbatore

Udupi is about 500 km from Coimbatore, roughly 10 hours by road with stops. That is a full travel day each way, so we plan an early departure in an AC vehicle with our driver. Most visitors treat Udupi as part of the Karnataka coast rather than a one-night stop.

Udupi is on the Karnataka coast, and the nearest airport is Mangalore, as the Udupi district website notes. The Krishna temple is 2.2 km by road from the town centre. Our packages run road-only from Coimbatore, with the Karnataka permit and entry tax included.

Udupi trip plan: how many days do you need?

Allow at least 3 days for an Udupi tour from Coimbatore, and 4 if you also want Mangalore. With about 10 hours each way, a 3-day trip leaves one day for sightseeing. Udupi itself needs half a day; the beaches and the coast temples fill the rest.

Package Length From (per person)
Udupi Murudeshwar 3 days 3 days, 2 nights ₹19,500
Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar 4 days 4 days, 3 nights ₹16,200
Karnataka temples 5 days 5 days, 4 nights ₹20,800

The 3-day Udupi Murudeshwar package is the quickest way to see Udupi and the Murudeshwar coast. The 4-day Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar tour adds Mangalore and slows the pace. For more temples, the 5-day Karnataka temple tour is the longer route.

  • St. Mary's Island. A short boat trip from Malpe, known for its hexagonal basalt rock formations.
  • Kapu (Kaup) Beach. About 12 km from Udupi, with a historic lighthouse and fewer crowds than Malpe.
  • Manipal End Point. A viewpoint over the Swarna River.
  • Kollur Mookambika Temple. About 75 to 80 km from Udupi on the banks of the Souparnika river.
  • Murudeshwar. Roughly 100 km from Udupi on the coast.

How much does an Udupi tour package from Coimbatore cost?

Our Udupi tour packages start at ₹16,200 per person for 4 days and 3 nights, with the 3-day Udupi Murudeshwar trip at ₹19,500. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, the Karnataka permit and entry tax, and the hotel. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.

The cost is mostly distance: about 500 km each way means large fuel and driver time even on a short trip, so a short trip still costs a lot. The 4-day tour shows a price range, so your quote fixes the exact amount for your group size and dates. Hotels are 3-star or similar, named in the quote.
