1 tour package from Coimbatore, 3 days, from ₹11,600 per person.
Jog Falls, where the Sharavathi drops 253 metres near Sagara, is the reason most people visit Shimoga (Shivamogga). The city is about 470 km and a 10 hour drive from Coimbatore. Our 3 day Jog Falls package stays two nights in Shivamogga, and one price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and hotel.
Shivamogga is about 470 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 10 hours of driving with breaks. Jog Falls is about 106 km further on, 2.5 to 3 hours by Karnataka Tourism's figures. Going straight to Jog would mean around 585 km and 12.5 hours in one day, so our package stays two nights in Shivamogga and makes the falls a day out. We pick you up in Coimbatore, the driver and AC vehicle stay with you for the whole trip, and the Karnataka permit and entry tax are part of the price.
Shivamogga sits on the Tunga River and is often called the Gateway to Malnad, the hill and forest country of the Western Ghats. Jog Falls is in Sagara taluk of the same district.
Our Shimoga Jog Falls 3 days tour package is the one trip we run here. Day 1 is the drive to Shivamogga. Day 2 is Jog Falls, with a stop at the Ikkeri temple on the way back. Day 3 starts at the Sakrebyle elephant camp, adds Gajanur Dam and Mandagadde, then heads home to Coimbatore. That last drive is long, and we can split it with an extra night if you ask.

| Shimoga Jog Falls Tour Package from Coimbatore | 3 Days / 2 Nights | ₹11,600 |
Karnataka Tourism gives the Jog Falls height as 253 metres (830 feet), a single free fall of the Sharavathi that makes it India's second highest plunge waterfall. It comes down in four streams called Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket.
How much water you see depends on the season and on Linganamakki Dam upstream. Karnataka Tourism says that in peak monsoon, when the dam releases enough water, the four streams merge into one torrent, and that the dam cuts the natural flow outside the monsoon. So a March trip and an October trip look like two different waterfalls.
The viewpoints are open 7.30 AM to 9.30 PM, with a two hour limit per entry. About 1,400 steps lead down towards the base, but the Jog Management Authority often closes that path, so we check on the day. Entry tickets are paid at the gate and are not part of the package price.
The Shimoga Jog Falls package costs ₹11,600 to ₹23,200 per person for 3 days and 2 nights. The rate per person falls as your group grows, because the vehicle cost is shared. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, driver charges, the Karnataka permit and entry tax, and two nights in a 3-star or similar hotel in Shivamogga, named in your quote. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
A sedan suits up to 4 people, an Ertiga or Innova up to 7, and a Tempo Traveller or Force Urbania 10 to 18. Day 2 alone has over 200 km of driving to Jog and back, so a roomy vehicle helps.
August to December, according to Karnataka Tourism, which calls October to December the best overall. From June to September the flow is at its highest, but paths are slippery and mist can hide the gorge. January and February bring a moderate flow that suits photographs. From March to May the falls run low and the days are hot. Shivamogga gets most of its rain from June to early October, and July is the wettest month. If you want the Mandagadde birds as well, July to September is their season.
Keladi, about 36 km from Jog, has the Rameshwara temple and a museum on the Keladi dynasty, and it fits on Day 2 with Ikkeri. Linganamakki Dam is about 12 km from the falls. On the coast, Karnataka Tourism puts Murudeshwar about 95 km from Jog and Gokarna about 122 km, so a longer trip can come home along the sea. If you would rather see coffee hills than waterfalls, look at Chikmagalur or Sakleshpur, and for river rafting, Dandeli.
