1 tour package from Coimbatore, 4 days, from ₹16,200 per person.
Mangalore (Mangaluru) is the port city of coastal Karnataka, about 445 km from Coimbatore. Our Mangalore tour package starts with pickup in Coimbatore and pairs a night in the city with Udupi and Murudeshwar. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and hotels.
Mangalore (Mangaluru) is about 445 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 9 hours of driving with breaks. That is a full day each way, so we do not sell it as a day trip. Our Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar 4 days tour package leaves Coimbatore early on Day 1 and reaches Mangalore by late afternoon, in time for the beach at sunset. The driver and AC vehicle stay with you for the whole trip, and the Karnataka permit and entry tax are part of the price.
Mangaluru is the headquarters of Dakshina Kannada district, a port city between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. The district website says it has been a trading centre for centuries, and its old streets still have tiled houses, temples and churches.
The main places to visit in Mangalore are two city beaches, a few old temples and churches, and the riverside watch tower at Sultan Battery. Most Mangalore tourist places are a short drive from the city hotels, so you spend little time in traffic.
Entry tickets and boat or ferry fares are paid on the spot and are not part of the package price. Hours can change, so we check them for your date.
Our 4 day package gives you one afternoon and evening in Mangalore. We keep it to Panambur for the sunset and the Mangaladevi temple after dark. Tannirbhavi and Sultan Battery can replace the temple if you would rather have the quieter beach.
For a full day of things to do in Mangalore, add a second night. The morning can cover Kadri, St Aloysius Chapel and Sultan Battery, and the afternoon Pilikula or Tannirbhavi. Tell us when you ask for the quote and we price the extra night.
One of our packages stays in Mangalore. The Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar plan spends a night in Mangalore and two in Udupi. It covers the Krishna Matha, Malpe, St Mary's Island, Murudeshwar, Kollur Mookambika and the Kapu lighthouse before the drive home.
| Package | Length | From (per person) |
|---|---|---|
| Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar Tour Package from Coimbatore | 4 Days / 3 Nights | ₹16,200 |
If Mangalore itself is not a must, the Udupi Murudeshwar 3 days trip is a day shorter, and the 5 day Karnataka temple tour goes inland to Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya. Neither of those stays in Mangalore.
The Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar package costs ₹16,200 to ₹32,400 per person for 4 days and 3 nights. The rate per person falls as your group grows, because the vehicle cost is shared. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, driver charges, the Karnataka permit and entry tax, and 3-star or similar hotels named in your quote. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
Distance is most of the cost. The vehicle covers about 445 km to Mangalore and around 530 km home from Udupi, so even a short trip has two long driving days.
October to February is the best time to visit Mangalore, and these are the months Karnataka Tourism gives for the city. Wikipedia notes that Mangaluru gets about 95 percent of its yearly rain between May and September and stays very dry from December to March. In the monsoon, swimming can be stopped when the sea is rough, and the St Mary's Island boats near Udupi do not run, so a June to September trip drops that stop.
Udupi is about 95 km north and is where our package spends two nights. Murudeshwar and Kollur fill Day 3. Inland, the Dakshina Kannada district site puts Dharmasthala 75 km east of Mangaluru and Kukke Subramanya 104 km away, and many families ask us to add one of them. Further up the coast is Gokarna.
