What is Kollur known for?

Kollur, in Byndoor taluk of Udupi district, is known for the Mookambika Temple. The temple stands on the bank of the Souparnika river, in the foothills of the Kodachadri hills. The Udupi district tourism page calls it one of the Seven Mukthi Sthalas of Karnataka and says the goddess is worshipped as a Jyotir-lingam that unites Shiva and Shakti. The temple has a gold-plated crest and copper roofs. Adi Shankara is credited with establishing the present form of the goddess. The Rathotsava in the month of Phalguna and Navaratri in Ashwin are the main festivals.

How far is Kollur from Coimbatore?

Kollur is about 570 km from Coimbatore, roughly 11.5 hours by road. That is too far for a day trip, so we do not sell it as one. Within Karnataka the district page gives about 75 km from Udupi by road. Mangalore is the nearest airport and Udupi the nearest railhead for visitors from outside the region. Maranakatte, with the Brahmalingeshwara shrine, is about 20 km from the temple.

Which packages include Kollur?

Two of our trips include Kollur. The 5 day Karnataka temple tour takes you from Coimbatore to Udupi for the Sri Krishna Matha, then to Kollur Mookambika, with Murudeshwar as an option. It then goes on to Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya before the drive home. The Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar 4 day package puts Kollur and Murudeshwar into one long day from Udupi, a loop of about 200 km.

Package Duration From, per person
Mangalore Udupi Murudeshwar 4 days, 3 nights ₹16,200
Karnataka temple tour 5 days, 4 nights ₹20,800

How do the days run on the Karnataka temple tour?

On the 5 day tour, Day 1 is the long drive from Coimbatore to Udupi and the Sri Krishna Matha. Day 2 is Kollur Mookambika, with Murudeshwar as an option. Day 3 moves to Dharmasthala, and Day 4 is Kukke Subramanya and nearby temples before the drive home on Day 5. The nights are in Udupi, Kollur, Dharmasthala and Kukke, in a 3-star or similar hotel or a temple guest house, confirmed in your quote. On the 4 day coastal plan, you spend a night in Mangalore and two in Udupi, then do Murudeshwar and Kollur in one day, and end with the Kapu lighthouse on the way home. Day 1 and Day 4 are the long drives, so expect to be on the road for most of those days.

How much does a Kollur tour package cost?

Prices start at ₹16,200 per person for the 4 day coastal plan and ₹20,800 per person for the 5 day temple circuit. The difference comes from the nights, the towns and the distance covered. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and the hotel (3-star or similar, or a temple guest house, confirmed in your quote). Kerala and Karnataka permits and entry tax are included. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.

What is the best time to visit Kollur?

October to February is the comfortable season on the Karnataka coast. March to May is hot and humid. June to September is the south-west monsoon, with heavy rain on the coast and the Ghats, which can slow the drive. Navaratri and the chariot festival bring large crowds, so book early if you plan for those days. We do not quote darshan timings here because the temple sets them. We confirm the current timings before you travel.

What else can you add near Kollur?

Kollur sits between Udupi and Murudeshwar, so most visitors add Udupi and Murudeshwar. Temple travellers also add Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya, and beach lovers add Gokarna or Mangalore. Call or WhatsApp +91 86101 62373 for a custom plan.
