1 tour package from Coimbatore, 5 days, from ₹20,200 per person.
Chitradurga Fort, a stone fort of seven walls across the hills of central Karnataka, is about 450 km and an 8.5 hour drive from Coimbatore. We stop here for a night on our 5 day Hampi Badami tour, with pickup in Coimbatore and one price for the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and hotels.
Chitradurga is about 450 km from Coimbatore by the shortest road, roughly 8.5 hours of driving with breaks. The route through Bangalore is longer, about 550 km, and your driver picks the road for your dates. Either way it fills a day, so we treat Chitradurga as an overnight halt on the way north, not a day trip. The town sits on NH48, and Hampi is about 140 km further on, around 3 hours.
Our Chitradurga Hampi Badami 5 days tour package spends its first night here. If you leave Coimbatore before dawn, you reach Chitradurga by mid afternoon for a first walk around the fort. Day 2 goes on to Hampi for the Virupaksha and Vittala temples, Day 3 covers the royal centre and Hemakuta Hill, and Day 4 is Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole. Day 5 is the drive home, and we suggest adding a night on the way, in Chitradurga or Bangalore.

If you would rather give that day to Hampi, the 4 day Hampi Badami plan and the 3 day Hampi trip skip Chitradurga.
Karnataka Tourism describes the fort, also called Kallina Kote, as seven concentric stone walls joined by winding corridors, with 19 gateways and 18 old temples over about 1,500 acres. The walls run about 8 km across seven hills of the Chinmuladri range and stand 5 to 13 metres high.
Fort timings and entry fees change, so your driver checks the closing time on the day. Much of the walking is on bare rock and steps, so wear shoes with grip and carry water.
It was built in stages, and the Chalukyas and Hoysalas were among its early rulers. Most of what you see comes from the Nayakas of Chitradurga, who expanded it between the 15th and 18th centuries. The district website says 14 Nayakas ruled for 211 years and built temples, lakes, tanks and forts across the region. The line began when Timmanna Nayaka, a chieftain under the Vijayanagara Empire, was made governor. Hyder Ali took the fort in 1779 after defeating Madakari Nayaka V, the last ruler.
The Chitradurga Hampi Badami package costs ₹20,200 to ₹40,400 per person for 5 days and 4 nights. The rate per person falls as your group grows. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, driver charges, the Karnataka permit and entry tax, and four hotel nights, with the Chitradurga hotel a 3-star or similar named in your quote. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
October to March, the cooler months that Karnataka Tourism gives for the fort. Chitradurga has a dry, semi arid climate, and the same October to February window suits Hampi and Badami, which share the trip. On warm days, ask us to plan the fort walk early or late in the day.
The Chandravalli caves lie between the Chitradurga, Cholagudda and Kirubanakallu hills, with remains from the Kadamba, Satavahana and Hoysala eras, and the Murugha Mutt is also in the town. Neither is on the standard plan, but we can add them if you stay a second night. Further north, read our Hampi page and Badami page, or see all our Karnataka trips. Call or WhatsApp +91 86101 62373 from our office at Ganapathy, Coimbatore, with your dates.
