4 tour packages from Coimbatore, 1 to 10 days, from ₹2,650 per person.
Palani is about 105 km and a 2.5 hour drive from Coimbatore, which makes the Dhandayuthapani Murugan temple an easy one day trip. We pick you up in Coimbatore and one price covers the AC vehicle and driver. Longer plans add Kodaikanal or the Arupadai Veedu temples.
1 Day
4 Days / 3 Nights
6 Days / 5 Nights
10 Days / 9 NightsThe Coimbatore to Palani distance is about 105 km by road, and the drive takes roughly 2.5 hours. The Palani distance is short enough that the km figure rarely decides anything: 105 km is a morning drive. The same figure applies for Palani to Coimbatore distance on the return. National Highway 83 passes through Palani, and the town is also on the Coimbatore to Rameswaram railway line. That makes a one day trip realistic.
Yes. Our Palani temple one day tour leaves Coimbatore in the morning and returns the same day, with no overnight stay. It covers the hilltop Dhandayuthapani Swamy temple, Thiru Avinankudi and, if you want, the Periyanayaki Amman temple. Families with elders and devotee groups use it most.
The temple stands on Sivagiri hill, one of the Palani Hills. You can climb the steps, take the sliding walkway, ride the winch-operated funicular railway or use the rope car. The rope car was added in 2003 and upgraded in 2018 to carry up to 1,500 people an hour. Wait times depend on the day, so ask us for current advice when you book. Dress code and darshan timings are set by the temple, and we pass on what we know before you travel.
The Palani one day tour starts at ₹2,650 per person, and the price per person falls as your group grows. Longer trips add Kodaikanal or more Murugan temples. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll and parking, plus the hotel on trips with a night. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.

Palani is one of the Six Abodes of Murugan, so it is the first stop on the 6 day Arupadai Veedu plan: Palani, Thiruparankundram, Pazhamudircholai, Tiruchendur, Swamimalai and Tiruttani. Kodaikanal is about 67 km from Palani, which makes the 4 day Palani Kodaikanal plan a pilgrimage with a hill break. The 10 day South India Temples tour starts at Palani on the way to Madurai.
Pick the one day tour if you only want darshan and a return the same evening. Pick the 4 day plan if you want Kodaikanal as well: it runs Coimbatore, Palani, Kodaikanal, Dindigul and back, with a night in Kodaikanal, and it suits senior travellers who need the winch or ropeway. The Kodai stops are Kodai Lake, Bryant Park, Coaker's Walk, Mannavanur, Berijam Lake and Silver Cascade.
The 6 day Arupadai Veedu plan is for Murugan devotees who can manage long drive days, with one night each in Palani, Madurai, Tiruchendur, Kumbakonam and Tiruttani. Our Arupadai Veedu package and the 10 day South India Temples tour are both quoted from our Ganapathy office.
The Murugan idol is said to be made from nine herbs or rocks (navapashanam), created and consecrated by the sage Bogar. The panchamirtham prasadam from the temple has a Geographical Indication tag. The temple draws more than 7 million pilgrims a year, so weekends, festival days and school holidays are busy. If you want a calmer darshan, ask for a weekday plan.
