How far is Nagore from Coimbatore?

Nagore is about 375 km from Coimbatore by road, a drive of roughly 7 hours. Wikipedia places it about 5 km north of Nagapattinam and 12 km south of Karaikal, in Nagapattinam district on the Tamil Nadu coast. Because of the distance, we pair it with nearby Velankanni on a 3 day trip.

What is the Nagore Dargah?

The Nagore Dargah holds the tomb of the Sufi saint Nagore Syed Abdul Qadir Shahul Hamid, known locally as Nagore Andavar. Wikipedia dates the dargah to the 16th century. It has five minarets, and the tallest, about 40 m, was added by the Thanjavur Maratha ruler Pratap Singh.

The shrine draws pilgrims of all faiths. Wikipedia says the administration estimates 50 to 75 percent of daily visitors are Hindus. The 14 day Kanduri festival marks the saint's death anniversary and is the busiest time, so tell us early if you plan to travel then.

Which package includes Nagore?

The Velankanni Nagore 3 days tour package from Coimbatore starts at ₹11,700 per person for 3 days and 2 nights. Velankanni is a nearby pilgrim town, and the Nagapattinam district site calls it one of the most visited pilgrim centres in India. See also the Velankanni page.

The price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and a hotel (3-star or similar, confirmed in the quote). Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.

How many days do you need?

Three days is the practical minimum: a day on the road each way and a day for Nagore and Velankanni. A two day trip leaves little time at either place after 7 hours of driving. If you want a wider coast and temple circuit, add Thanjavur or Kumbakonam on a longer plan.

What is the best time to visit Nagore?

January to March is the most comfortable window. The northeast monsoon brings rain to the Tamil Nadu coast from October to December, and April and May are hot. Festival dates change each year with the Islamic calendar, so check the date before you book.
