1 tour package from Coimbatore, 6 days, from ₹24,500 per person.
Tiruchendur is the Murugan temple on the sea shore in Thoothukudi district, about 7.5 hours from Coimbatore. We take you there with pickup in Coimbatore, as one stop of our 6 day Arupadai Veedu tour, with one price for the vehicle, driver and hotels.
The Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple at Tiruchendur is dedicated to Murugan and stands near the seashore in Thoothukudi district. It is one of the six abodes of Murugan, the Arupadai Veedu, and sits right by the sea. The temple complex measures about 91 m north to south and 65 m east to west, and its seven tier gopuram is about 42 m high. The Dutch East India Company occupied the temple from 1646 to 1648 during its war with the Portuguese.
Festivals run through the year. Skanda Sashti falls in the Tamil month of Aippasi and brings the largest crowds. The Vaikasi Visakam festival lasts 12 days, Chithirai Vasanthotsavam lasts 10 days, and the Aavani and Maasi festivals last 12 days each. Plan around these dates, or avoid them, depending on whether you want the festival or a calm visit.
Tiruchendur is about 390 km from Coimbatore, a drive of about 7.5 hours with stops. This is the distance by car, and it is a long day on its own. In our plan we split the journey: Day 1 reaches Palani, Day 2 continues to Madurai, and Day 3 goes from Madurai to Tiruchendur. This keeps each drive short and lets you visit other Murugan temples on the way. The return runs through Kumbakonam, so you do not repeat the road.
Our Arupadai Veedu tour package from Coimbatore runs 6 days and 5 nights. It visits Palani, Thiruparankundram and Pazhamudircholai near Madurai, Tiruchendur, Swamimalai near Kumbakonam, and Tiruttani. The nights are in Palani, Madurai, Tiruchendur, Kumbakonam and Tiruttani, in a 3-star or similar hotel confirmed in your quote. It starts at ₹24,500 per person.
Each of these has its own page: Palani, Madurai, Kumbakonam and Tiruttani.
Day 1 is the drive to Palani. Day 2 covers Thiruparankundram and Pazhamudircholai, with a halt in Madurai. Day 3 goes south to Tiruchendur. Day 4 heads north to Swamimalai, via Thanjavur or Kumbakonam, and Day 5 reaches Tiruttani. Day 6 is the drive back to Coimbatore. The order of the days can change if a temple has a festival, and we tell you before you travel. Because the circuit uses five hotels, the quote names each one.
The 6 day Arupadai Veedu tour starts at ₹24,500 per person. The price depends on the dates, the hotel category and the group size. One price covers the vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and hotels. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
Yes, but it is a long road for one temple. With 390 km each way, a Tiruchendur-only trip needs at least two nights, and it pairs well with Kanyakumari and Rameswaram, which are on the same side of the state. Send us your dates and group size on WhatsApp +91 86101 62373 and we price it as a custom plan. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and the hotel. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
January to March is the most comfortable season. October to December is the north-east monsoon on the Tamil Nadu coast, with rain and sea winds. April and May are hot. Skanda Sashti in Aippasi, which falls around October and November, is the busiest period, and the queue for darshan is long. Many families prefer a weekday outside the festival days. Ask us about darshan timings and queue options when you request the quote, as the temple sets these.
