How far is Topslip from Coimbatore and Pollachi?

The Pollachi to Topslip distance is about 37 km. Topslip is about 100 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 3 hours, and the route goes through Pollachi and the Aliyar side. Our driver picks you up in Coimbatore and keeps the same vehicle for the Pollachi drive and the climb into the reserve.

Topslip lies in the north-east corner of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, at about 10.42 N and 77.06 E. That corner holds the reserve's main tourist facilities.

What is the Anamalai Tiger Reserve?

The reserve spans Pollachi and Valparai taluks of Coimbatore district and Udumalaipettai taluk of Tiruppur district. It covers 1,479.87 sq km, of which 958.59 sq km is core area, and its elevation runs from 340 m to 2,513 m.

Wildlife listed for the reserve includes the Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, leopard, dhole, Nilgiri tahr and lion-tailed macaque, and more than 250 bird species. It adjoins Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary on the west. An annual Elephant Pongal at Top Slip, begun in 1997, lets visitors watch decorated elephants being fed.

When is the best time to visit Topslip?

The Ghats get heavy rain during the south-west monsoon from June to September, when forest roads can be wet and wildlife is harder to spot. October to February is the usual pick for a forest trip, with mild days. March to May is hot on the plains side.

If you have a third day, yes. The Coimbatore district tourism page lists Valparai as a hill station on the Anamalai range, and Topslip and Valparai share the same hills, so the extra day adds a different landscape rather than a repeat. If you only have a weekend, keep the 2 day plan and spend the time in the forest instead.
