1 tour package from Coimbatore, 3 days, from ₹11,700 per person.
Kanchipuram is a temple and silk city about 425 km and 7.5 hours from Coimbatore. Our 3 day package pairs it with Tiruvannamalai, starts with pickup in Coimbatore, and one price covers the AC vehicle, driver and hotel.
Kanchipuram is about 425 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 7.5 hours of driving, and 72 km southwest of Chennai. That is a full travel day each way, which is why we bundle it with Tiruvannamalai in a 3 day trip instead of selling it as a day out.
Kanchipuram is one of the seven holy cities of Hindus (Sapta Puri) and is called the City of Thousand Temples. For a short trip, the Ekambareswarar, Kailasanathar and Varadaraja Perumal temples are the ones to plan around.
The city has 15 of the 108 Vishnu temples sung in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham. Searches for the Athi Varadar temple, Vaikunda Perumal temple and the Perumal temple list lead to the same group of Vishnu temples. Temple timings and special darshan days are set by each temple and change, so we confirm them before your date.
Yes. Kanchipuram is a traditional silk weaving centre, and in 2005 Kanchipuram silk saris became the first Indian product to get a Geographical Indication tag. If shopping is part of your plan, tell us before we quote so that time is left for the weavers' shops.
Our Tiruvannamalai Kanchipuram 3 day package starts at ₹11,700 per person. The price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and the hotel (3-star or similar, confirmed in your quote). Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra.
| Package | Duration | From, per person |
|---|---|---|
| Tiruvannamalai Kanchipuram Tour Package | 3 Days / 2 Nights | ₹11,700 |
The package already pairs Kanchipuram with Tiruvannamalai. You can also ask us to add Mahabalipuram or Pondicherry. See Tamil Nadu tour packages for longer circuits.
The Kancheepuram district site calls the temple town the City of Thousand Temples and highlights four temples: Ekambaranathar, Varadharaja Perumal, Kailasanathar and Athi Varadhar. It lists Kancheevaram silks and sarees as a Geographical Indication product. It also lists Arignar Anna Illam, a memorial to former Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai in Vishnu Kanchi, about 3 km from the bus and railway stations.
Chennai is about 72 km from Kanchipuram, and Tiruvannamalai is about 114 km by road, roughly 2.5 hours. That is why the two towns fit in one 3 day trip from Coimbatore, with the long drive from Coimbatore on the first and last days.
January to March is comfortable for temple walking. April and May are hot, and October to December is the north-east monsoon on the Tamil Nadu coast, so rain can interrupt a plan. Ask us about your dates.
