1 tour package from Coimbatore, 3 days, from ₹7,499 per person.
Nelliyampathy is a hill station above Palakkad, about 105 km from Coimbatore. Our 3 day trip picks you up in Coimbatore, climbs past Pothundy Dam to the viewpoints and orange farms, and comes back through Palakkad Fort and Malampuzha, with one price for the vehicle, driver and stay.
Nelliyampathy is about 105 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 2.5 hours with the climb. The Palakkad district site puts it 123 km from Coimbatore airport, 60 to 65 km from Palakkad town and 75 km from Pollachi. The route goes through Palakkad to Nemmara, and the last 25 km from Nemmara is a narrow hairpin road up the hill. It is the closest Kerala hill station to Coimbatore on our list, so it suits people who want a hill break without the long Munnar or Wayanad drive.
Nelliyampathy is a hill village in Palakkad district, between 467 and 1,572 m above sea level. Tea, coffee and cardamom estates cover the slopes, and the Agriculture Department runs an orange and vegetable farm on the hill. The district page calls it a delight for trekkers. Treks such as the 6 km walk to the hill top are subject to permission from the Forest Division, so we only plan them once that permission is confirmed.
It is a small place with estate roads, viewpoints and quiet nights. Do not expect a town with shops and cafes.
The district page lists five viewpoints and sights on the hill, plus Pothundy Dam on the way up.
Which viewpoints are open, and how far the vehicle can go on the estate roads, depends on the forest and estate rules on the day. If a stop is closed, we swap in another one nearby.
We run one trip that stays on the hill: the Nelliyampathy 3 days tour package from Coimbatore. Day 1 goes through Palakkad and Nemmara to Pothundy Dam, then up the hairpin road. Day 2 is Seethakundu, Kesavanpara and the tea and orange farms. Day 3 comes down to Palakkad Fort and Malampuzha Dam before the drive home.
| Package | Length | From (per person) |
|---|---|---|
| Nelliyampathy 3 Days Tour Package from Coimbatore | 3 Days / 2 Nights | ₹7,499 |
The 3 day package starts at ₹7,499 per person, based on 2 travelling together. That covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, Kerala permit and entry tax, and two nights in a 3-star or similar stay named in your quote. Meals, entry tickets, the Malampuzha ropeway and personal expenses are extra. A couple fits a sedan and a family of six an Innova. For bigger groups we suggest a Tempo Traveller rather than a bus, because the hairpin road is narrow.
Two nights is the right length for most people. The drive is short, but the climb is slow and the viewpoints are spread across the hill, so a day trip leaves little time at the top. With two nights you get one unhurried day on the hill and still see Palakkad on the way back.
September to February is the most comfortable time, with clearer views from Seethakundu. During the monsoon, June to September, the hills are green but mist can hide the views and the road is wet. The Palakkad plains get hot in April and May, and the hilltop stays cooler than the town.
If you only have one day, the Palakkad heritage day tour or the Malampuzha one day tour is the better choice. See our Palakkad page for both. If you want tea hills with more waterfalls and wildlife, Valparai is a similar drive from Coimbatore, and the Valparai and Pollachi 3 day trip pairs it with Pollachi. About 105 km by road through Palakkad and Nemmara, roughly 2.5 hours including the hairpin climb.
It is possible, but the climb is slow and the viewpoints are spread out. Our plan has two nights on the hill so the day there is not rushed.
We do not quote a number. The last 25 km from Nemmara is a narrow road with many tight bends, and our drivers take it slowly. Bring tablets if anyone gets car sick.
Treks such as the hill top walk need permission from the Forest Division. Tell us in advance and we check before you travel.
Yes, if they are fine with the winding road. Tell us about any walking limits and we pick the viewpoints that suit them.
Meals, entry tickets, the Malampuzha ropeway and personal expenses. The vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and stay are included.
