Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Munnar via Udumalpet and Chinnar

We pick you up early and drive south through Pollachi and Udumalpet. Past the Tamil Nadu border the road climbs through Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and on through Marayoor. You stop at Lakkam Waterfalls on the Marayoor to Munnar stretch, then drive through the tea gardens into Munnar. Check in and keep the evening free.

  2. Day 2: Mattupetty, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, Eravikulam and the drive home

After breakfast you head out on the Mattupetty road. A roadside photo point is on this road, among the tea slopes, and a quick stop there is part of the morning. Then Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake. Eravikulam at Rajamalai is the last sight before the drive home. In busy months your driver may visit Rajamalai first to beat the queue.

How far is Munnar and how do you get there

Munnar is about 160 km from Coimbatore by the Pollachi, Udumalpet, Chinnar and Marayoor road. Plan on around 4.5 to 5.5 hours each way with stops. It can take longer on season weekends.

Places you will see

Eravikulam National Park. Kerala Tourism's Eravikulam page says Rajamalai is the only part of the park where visitors can see the Nilgiri tahr, and that Anamudi, the highest peak in South India at 2,695 metres, stands inside the park.

Mattupetty. A concrete dam built in the late 1940s with pedal boats and speed boats on the lake, according to the Mattupetty guide on Kerala Tourism. Echo Point and Kundala Lake are further along the same road, so Day 2 needs little backtracking.

Chinnar and Marayoor. The Day 1 road passes the only natural sandalwood forest in Kerala, as the Marayoor page on Kerala Tourism notes.

Best time to go

Munnar is open all year, but Eravikulam closes from February to March for the Nilgiri tahr calving season, per Kerala Tourism. We check the exact dates before we quote. June to August brings heavy rain and a full Lakkam.

Vehicle for your group size

The vehicle is part of the package price. We match it to your group, and you can ask for a different one.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 2-day Munnar trip from Coimbatore cost?

It costs ₹5,999 to ₹9,499 per person, based on 2 travelling together. Your figure depends on dates, vehicle and hotel, so we quote each trip as one price for the vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking and the hotel night. Meals and tickets are extra.

Do you pick us up in Coimbatore?

Yes. We pick you up from your home or hotel, the airport, railway station or bus stand, and drop you back anywhere in the city. Tell us your pickup time and we plan Day 1 around it.

What is the Eravikulam National Park entry fee?

The forest department sets the fee and it is not in our price. Fees, online booking and daily visitor limits change by season, so we check them for your travel date. Inside the park, a park vehicle takes you from the entry point up to the Rajamalai visitor zone.

What if Eravikulam is closed or sold out on our date?

If the park is shut for calving or tickets run out, your driver adds other sights such as the tea museum. We warn you before booking if your dates fall in the closure window.

Can we change the plan or add a stop?

Yes, within the time you have. Two days is tight, so adding a far stop such as Top Station means dropping something else. Tell us your must-see places and we will say what fits.

How do payment and cancellation work?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should not book this package?

If you want Top Station or more time in Marayoor, two days is too short. Our 3-day Munnar tea hills trip gives you a full sightseeing day. If you also want the Periyar boat ride, look at the 4-day Munnar and Thekkady package. Couples after a slower break can see our Munnar honeymoon trip. Adding Wayanad? Try Munnar and Wayanad in 4 days. For a Periyar weekend on its own, see the 2-day Thekkady trip.
