It suits couples and families who want the palace city and the coffee hills in one long weekend. We are based in Ganapathy, Coimbatore, and every car on this trip is ours, driven by our own staff.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Mysore, palace and Chamundi Hill

    Morning drive to Mysore, about 195 km. After check-in you visit Mysore Palace, open until 5:30 PM according to Karnataka Tourism's Mysuru guide, and finish on Chamundi Hill.

  2. Day 2: Mysore to Coorg, Abbey Falls and Raja's Seat sunset

    We drive west to Madikeri, about 120 km and around 2 to 3 hours with stops. After lunch you walk down to Abbey Falls, then go to Raja's Seat for the evening. Karnataka Tourism's Coorg guide calls it one of the best sunset views in the district.

  3. Day 3: Dubare, Bylakuppe and return to Coimbatore

    Early start for Dubare Elephant Camp on the Kaveri, then the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe on the way back toward Mysore, and the drive home. This is the longest day, so we leave Madikeri soon after breakfast and keep stops short.

How far / how to reach

All driving is by road in one vehicle: Coimbatore to Mysore (about 195 km), Mysore to Madikeri, then Madikeri back to Coimbatore through Kushalnagar and Mysore, roughly 315 km for the last leg.

Places you will see

The Abbey Falls distance from Madikeri town is about 6 km, and Raja's Seat is about 7 km from the falls, per Karnataka Tourism. The Abbey Falls page says you watch from viewing points and cannot go into the water.

At Dubare Elephant Camp the elephants are bathed and fed in the river. Visitor slots are limited and the camp can close on short notice, so treat it as a planned stop, not a promise. Entry depends on the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby. From Abbey Falls to Dubare Elephant Camp is roughly a one-hour drive on the Kushalnagar road.

The Golden Temple at Bylakuppe is the Namdroling Monastery, about 5 km from Kushalnagar and open 9 AM to 6 PM.

Raja's Seat is in Madikeri, not Mysore; you reach it on Day 2.

Best time to go

October to March is cool and dry in both towns. Abbey Falls is fullest from July to October, but Coorg roads are wet and slow then. Rafting operators at Dubare run only in certain months.

Frequently asked questions

Can we add the KRS dam on Day 1?

Yes, in place of Chamundi Hill. The road from Mysore Palace to KRS Dam and the Brindavan Gardens below it is about 21 km. The Brindavan Gardens page lists the gardens as open 6:30 AM to 8 PM, with the musical fountain from 6:30 PM. The entry ticket is paid at the gate and is not in our quote. Fees change, so check the current rate on that page.

Is 3 days enough to see Coorg on this plan?

It depends on what you want. This plan spends one night in Mysore, so you see less of Coorg. If you want two nights in the hills, choose our Coorg 3-day coffee and nature trip.

Can we do rafting at Dubare?

Only in season and only if the operator is running that day. We can keep time for it on Day 3; the fee is paid there.

Which vehicle will we get?

It depends on group size and is named in your quote. Luggage space is planned for two hotel changes.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should pick a different package?
