Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Yercaud, lake, parks and Lady's Seat

    We leave early so you reach Yercaud by lunch. Afternoon boating on the lake, then Anna Park and the Rose Garden, which are close by. We finish at Lady's Seat for the sunset. Suggested stay: Sterling Yercaud or a similar 3-star hotel, confirmed in your quote.

  2. Day 2: Kiliyur Falls, Shevaroy temple, Bear's Cave, silk farm, return

    Morning at Kiliyur Falls, then up to the Shevaroy temple. On the way back you stop at Bear's Cave and the silk farm. After lunch we drive down to Salem and home to Coimbatore.

How far and how to reach

Yercaud sits at 1,515 m in the Shevaroy (Servarayan) hills, 35 km above Salem Junction. The Salem district Yercaud page puts Coimbatore airport about 190 km away, so plan on roughly 200 km and 3.5 to 4.5 hours from central Coimbatore, longer on season weekends. The last stretch is the Salem ghat road with hairpin bends. With only one night, an early start on Day 1 matters; we suggest leaving by 6 am.

Places you will see

The lake in town is often called Emerald Lake. The Salem district list of Yercaud tourist places calls it "the only natural lake among all the hill station lakes in the south" and lists boating from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Anna Park sits beside it. The same page says the silk farm and Rose Garden are about 2 km from town, and Kiliyur Falls is about 3 km from the lake and best after the monsoon.

The Shevarayan temple is open from 6 am to 8 pm, according to the district page, and its May festival draws large crowds. Bear's Cave is a small rock cave on the way. Entry depends on the estate and the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby.

Best time to go

October to March is cool and clear. Kiliyur Falls carries the most water after the monsoon; in a dry summer it can be a trickle. In May, the Yercaud summer festival and flower show at Anna Park fills the hotels, so book early if you want that week. Summer weekends are crowded at the lake.

Is one night enough for Yercaud?

For the main sights, yes. You will not have time for long walks or a second viewpoint at sunrise. If you can spare a third day, our Yercaud and Kolli Hills plan adds a second hill station.

Is the boating on Emerald Lake included?

No. You buy boat tickets at the lake counter. Queues are long on weekend afternoons, so we try to get you there early.

Can we change the plan?

Yes. You can drop the silk farm, add Pagoda Point, or stay a second night. Tell us before we quote.

Can you pick us up from Salem instead?

No. All our trips start and end in Coimbatore, so the pickup and drop-off are at your Coimbatore address.

What are your payment and cancellation terms?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
