Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Drive to Madikeri, Raja's Seat at sunset

    Pickup in Coimbatore and the drive to Madikeri. After check-in you go to Raja's Seat, about 1 km west of the Madikeri bus stand. The district notes the kings of Kodagu spent evenings in the park there, and the sunset is the reason to come.

  2. Day 2: Madikeri local sightseeing and a coffee estate

    This is your Madikeri sightseeing day. The waterfall 9 km out of town first, then Omkareshwara Temple, which the district says Lingarajendra II built in 1820 in a mix of Kerala tiled roofs and Islamic domes. Afternoon on a coffee plantation walk. Your quote names the estate and says whether any entry fee is included.

  3. Day 3: Dubare and the Golden Temple

    East towards Kushalnagar. The Dubare Elephant Camp is 38 km from Madikeri and run by Jungle Lodges and Resorts. At Dubare you can watch the elephants being fed and bathed, and listen to the naturalist. The camp sits in the Dubare forest, so mornings are best. Then the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, near Kushalnagar. Back to Madikeri.

  4. Day 4: Drive back to Coimbatore

    After breakfast you leave Coorg. The drive to Coimbatore is about 315 km, around 6 to 7 hours with stops, and we drop you at your pickup point in the evening.

Places you will see

Abbey Falls is 9 km from Madikeri, per the district, between coffee and cardamom estates; it was once called Jessy Falls. Some signs spell it Abbi Falls. Paths get slippery in the monsoon, so wear shoes with grip.

The Golden Temple is the Namdroling Monastery in the Tibetan settlement at Bylakuppe. The monastery dates from the Tibetan resettlement after 1959. Visitors are welcome in the main hall; dress modestly.

The culture of Coorg is Kodava: its own language, food (pandi curry with rice) and a strong link to coffee growing. A plantation walk is the easiest way to see that side of a Coorg vacation.

Best time to go

October to March is dry and cool, and Sunsets at Raja's Seat are clearest then. The waterfall carries the most water during and after the monsoon, though rain can close paths. Visit Raja's Seat in late afternoon for the sunset.

We send a sedan for up to 4, an Ertiga or Innova for 6 or 7, and a Tempo Traveller, Urbania or bus for bigger groups, named in your quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is this one of your Coorg tour packages for family groups?

Yes. Every stop is reachable by car with short walks, apart from the steps down to the waterfall. Children enjoy Dubare most. Tell us ages and we set the pace.

Can we add Talacauvery, Iruppu Falls or Kote Betta?

Yes, each as a swap. Talacauvery Temple, at the source of the Cauvery, is about 46 km from Madikeri per the district; we check Talacauvery temple timings for your date. Iruppu Falls Coorg is in south Kodagu, a long day out. Kote Betta Coorg is a hilltop with a short trek. Entry depends on the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby.

Is white river rafting at Coorg included?

No. White river rafting Coorg trips run on the Cauvery near Dubare only when the water level allows, which depends on the season. We add it if it is running; you pay the operator.

What time does Omkareshwara Temple open?

We confirm the hours before Day 2 and visit in the morning.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should pick a different package?
